MDMA

MDMA might easily be recognized as ecstasy but more importantly MDMA is recognized as a powerful psychoactive drug similar to cocaine and LSD. MDMA is the chemical methylenedioxyamphetamine, and like mescaline and the previously named drugs, causes brain damage and could lead to death. MDMA is taken to seek pleasure and escape from life’s problems but ironically problems will quickly increase due to MDMA abuse.

MDMA was popularized at all night dance parties called raves, but has moved into mainstream social circles- a study of 21 cities has found it to be the drug of choice in many singles bars and has become the first drug of choice among white middle class young adults. MDMA usage is also climbing in the eighth, tenth and twelfth grade levels. Surveys conducted by the National Institute of Health have found that the eleven percent of twelfth graders will have used MDMA.
